Academy of Court Appointed Masters Holds Annual Meeting in New Orleans

An Alabama-based attorney, Edgar "Ed" Gentle has served as a partner at the firm of Gentle Turner Sexton & Harbison in Birmingham for over 25 years. Beyond his work at the firm, Ed Gentle serves as president of the Academy of Court Appointed Masters (ACAM).

A national organization currently comprising 136 members, ACAM is dedicated to promoting the effective use of special masters in state and federal courts. Each year, ACAM members nationwide gather to advance scholarship and research regarding special masters during the organization's annual meeting.
The 2018 edition of the ACAM Annual Meeting took place April 12-14 at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel in New Orleans. Along with a reception and other networking activities, the three-day event featured panel discussions led by attorneys and judges from across the country. Educational programming at the meeting focused on the use of special masters in social-reform litigation, mass tort cases, and criminal law. In addition, the event included a session focused on special master ethics and insurance issues.
