Pair of Auburn Tigers Named to All-SEC Teams

Ed Gentle

The recipient of a JD from the University of Alabama, Edgar "Ed" Gentle is an attorney at the firm of Gentle Turner Sexton & Harbison in Birmingham, Alabama. Before earning his JD, Ed Gentle completed a bachelor's degree in biology at Auburn University. He continues to support his alma mater’s football team, the Tigers.

The 2018 Associated Press All-SEC Awards were handed out on December 3, and only two members of the Auburn Tigers were recognized for their performance in the 2018 season. Deshaun Davis was named to the All-SEC first-team defense, and Derrick Brown was named to the All-SEC second-team defense.
No players from Auburn made the All-SEC offensive teams, which is in stark contrast to last season when the Tigers had five players named to the first team alone, and Kerryon Johnson was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. This year, the All-SEC offensive teams were dominated by Alabama and Georgia, who had a combined 15 players on the first and second offensive teams.
For his part, Deshaun Davis finished his senior campaign with 103 tackles, 14 of which were for a loss in yardage, and 2.5 quarterback sacks. He finished his collegiate career with 253 tackles, 28.5 tackles for a loss, and 6.5 sacks. Derrick Brown registered 45 tackles and 3.5 sacks in his junior season.
