Bass fishing tournaments have been growing in popularity since 1967, when the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society hosted the first ever competition at Beaver Lake, Arkansas. Below are three prominent tournaments.

1. Lake Havasu City Striper Derby - Held annually every May at Lake Havasu in Arizona, this team fishing tournament is regarded as the premier striper tournament in the Western United States as anglers compete for over $100,000 in prizes and cash.

2. Bassmaster Classic - The final tournament of the 12-event Bassmaster Tournament Trail, this year's Classic is scheduled for March 16 at Lake Hartwell in Greenville, South Carolina. The 2017 event was won by Auburn University alumnus Jordan Lee, who earned bass fishing's most coveted trophy as well as a $300,000 prize.
3. Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship - Launched in 2009 out of Hendersonville, Tennesse, this year-end tournament is comprised of the winners of three different series. Kurt Smits won the 2017 Championship, which came with a cash prize of $40,500.
